William Kentridge

William Kentridge

I first came across Kentridge’s work in the book on contemporary drawing Vitamin D, from 2005 by Emma Dexter. I immediately fell in love and recently went to an exhibition of his latest work at the Marianne Goodman Gallery. The exhibition consisted primarily of large scaled drawings which consisted of smaller pieces of newspaper pieces and pages ripped out of books and magazines that Kentridge had collaged together and painted on.

Technically, Kentridge is making his animations by drawing and erasing, ans repeating this over and over again, and by this creating a narrative.
